I had an impromptu dentist appointment today to fix what I thought was a cavity but ended up being a cracked filling. But way more importantly, Libby got her first tooth! She was uncharacteristically cranky for Katie today and took a super long afternoon nap. Then we were playing with her this evening, and Kevin shouted out, "She has a tooth!" Sure enough, there's a little white bud sprouting through on the bottom left. We're very excited, but I'm also a bit apprehensive since I'm still nursing her! (So you were right, Aunt Christy.)
This has actually been a big milestone week for Miss Libby, who turned 8 months yesterday. On Thursday she started saying "mama," and it has become her distress call. "Dada" is still her favorite choice for cheerful babble. She also slept through the night really for the first time last Wednesday and Thursday (she did this a few times around 4 or 5 months, but in hindsight it was a fluke). I was worried that her excellent napping and sleeping habits would be derailed by our trip to Edgerton this past weekend, but she napped easily and slept through the night in Grandma and Grandpa's pack and play—even in her own room! And although she's been sitting unsupported for a few months, she hadn't been pushing herself from a crawling position up into a sitting position until today (we were sure she could do it; she just always had somewhere else she wanted to go). She's also pulling up onto her knees more and more every day. I'm sure it's only a matter of days or weeks before I go into her room one morning and find her standing up.
Now our little one is conked out in her crib, full of milk and Tylenol, and tired from all her excellent hard work. She's growing up so fast, but it's a blast to watch her!
